Inauguration adding flights in Baltimore

BALTIMORE (AP) — A spokesman for Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport says airlines are adding flights to deal with increased traffic by travelers attending the inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama.

Airport spokesman Jonathan Dean says the flights are expected to bring an additional 3,000 passengers in and out of BWI before and after the Jan. 20 inauguration. The spokesman says the airport typically handles an average of 57,000 passengers a day and expects inauguration travel to resemble holiday travel.

Dean says airport officials expects the day after the inauguration to be the busiest day. The spokesman says arrival by travelers into the region is expected to be spread over several days leading up to the inauguration while departure is expected to be more concentrated on the day after the inauguration.
